An encourager for the journey
Barnabas Mentoring is about the difference a dependable person can make. A mentor listens, helps a man recognise his strengths and walks alongside him as he takes his next step. It is fellowship built through time and trust, rather than someone arriving with all the answers.
The name draws on Barnabas, known as a son of encouragement in Acts 4:36. That spirit shapes the programme: seeing potential, making room for growth and offering encouragement that is both honest and practical.
Small steps, real life
Conversations can make space for the things that matter most: settling into housing, navigating recovery, considering work, rebuilding relationships or finding a steadier rhythm in everyday life. The starting point is the man himself, not a fixed list of goals somebody else has chosen.
Mentoring is not counselling, emergency support or a replacement for professional services. A mentor can help a man think through a realistic next step and encourage him to connect with the right support. Our ministry is Christ-centred; conversation about faith is offered, never a condition of receiving help.
Could you be a Barnabas mentor?
You do not need to have lived a perfect life to encourage someone else. A willingness to listen, respect another man's choices and show up consistently matters. Our Barnabas mentoring opportunity is for trained, supervised volunteers who want to offer dependable fellowship, not take control of another person's journey.
