In Your Corner

Boxing. Football. Brotherhood. A Father who never left your corner.

Someone in your corner

In boxing, the corner is where a fighter is patched up by someone who believes in him. In football, a corner is another chance to create something good. In Your Corner brings both together: a man beside you, and a new beginning. Sport is the starting point for fellowship, not a test.

How it works

  1. Taster nights

Meet the team and try boxing or football. Free, no experience needed, food afterwards.

  2. 12 Rounds

A 12-week season. Come to one night or both, with one shared theme each week.

  3. The Father’s House

A local, non-residential weekend that celebrates the journey together.

Two nights, one journey

Tuesday

Boxing

  • 90 minutes
  • Warm-up, pads and bag work
  • Non-contact with a qualified coach, no sparring ever
  • Corner-time conversation, then cool-down
  • Food and chat afterwards

Thursday

Football

  • 90 minutes
  • Small-sided games
  • A first-aider at every session
  • Half-time huddle
  • Food and chat afterwards

The relationship at the heart of the season

A cornerman, not a spectator

Every small group has a cornerman who takes part in the sessions, sits down for food and stays present through the 12-week journey. He is there to listen, encourage and help each man identify a realistic next step.

A cornerman does not arrive as an expert with all the answers. He builds trust by being consistent, noticing when someone is missing and making space for honest conversation about faith, life and change.

Cornermen receive training and ongoing support. The aim is dependable fellowship that can continue beyond the final whistle, while respecting each man’s choices, story and pace.

The Father’s House weekend

The Father’s House is the closing weekend of the In Your Corner season. Held locally and non-residential, it brings the men, their cornermen and the wider church together to mark the journey they have shared. Drawing on the story of the prodigal son, it is a celebration of welcome, belonging and new beginnings: a chance to look back on twelve weeks of sport and fellowship, and to look forward to the next step.

Friday
Men’s evening. A shared meal and the story of the prodigal son.
Saturday
Fight Night & Final. A non-contact boxing showcase and charity football match. Family attendance is subject to appropriate checks and confirmed arrangements.
Sunday
Celebration. A celebration and commissioning service.
